ENGRAVED OPTION FOR CUSTOM COPPER MUGS BY PAYKOC
For years we have offered custom Moscow Mule mugs with an embossed plate bearing a logo or design for our customers. There is no denying that the mugs we produce are of the highest quality and make for an impressive drinking vessel. The only drawbacks with these mugs are time and money (two things that often mean a lot to folks). We have now entered as new frontier with our capabilities to provide customized copper mugs. With the acquisition of a new rotary engraving machine, we can offer custom mugs that save both time and money. By handling the artwork, engraving and customer service in-house, we can provide turnaround times on projects far exceeding what we could offer before, as well as, accommodate practically any design or quantity desired.
The set up for an embossed logo is a more lengthy process that is done overseas in Turkey where the mugs would be designed, the set up cost is significantly more costly, there is a larger quantity commitment required to justify the shipping and general costs and we have to have someone else produce the mugs for us. The embossed mugs are still a great option for large orders and those who just simply want that specific look. Now with all the tools to generate custom engraved mugs under our own roof, we feel like we have offered anyone and everyone a chance to put their own unique stamp on the best copper mugs you will find anywhere.
From a traditional monogram, text marking a special occasion, to your company’s logo, we are able to produce mugs that will last a lifetime and that always draw attention. There is something about copper that is fascinating, whether you polish it like a new penny or let it tarnish with age and use, giving it a life of its own. Of course, you can’t beat the chill copper gives to your favorite drinks. So far, we have made custom engraved mugs for restaurants, bars, distilleries, golf tournaments, hotels, weddings, Colorado flags, and ski resorts and the list keeps growing. We are now offering engraved mugs directly on our website, and you can add up to three lines of text without having to go through any design work. You just pick your font, type in the text fields on the mug’s product page and we get to work.
We want our customers to know that we will go to any length to get you the custom mug that you want. If the website doesn’t work for the text options you want, just give us a call or email. If you have questions about a logo or image you want on a mug, we are happy to discuss all options. Our designer has the ability to adapt existing artwork to work for engraving and we have produced many designs that have a wide range of complexity. We won’t shy away from a project that makes us think outside the box.

WHAT IS NEEDED FOR CUSTOM LOGOS
There are many different types of images out there in the world. We have been able to convert most images to something we can use ourselves, but there are certain file types that work the best. An .ai file from Adobe Illustrator is perhaps the best file type because it gives us nice consistent lines to work with. If you have a less complicated logo, a .jpg or .pdf can usually be converted by us to work for you. It is best to make sure that these types of files are fairly high resolution, so they won’t get too blurry when you zoom in on them. This primarily excludes smaller “thumbnail” images that you can access from the internet. If your .jpg is over 500 X 500 pixels we should have no problem. Whatever image file you have, do not feel shy about sending it our way. We will be happy to check it out and advise you on what we need or brainstorm options to get you what you want. We generally can send you an image of the mug proof within a couple days and get right to work getting a batch done for you.

Continued Adventures in Custom Engraved Mugs
We have been doing some really exciting projects here at Paykoc Imports with custom engraving on copper mugs for retail and wholesale customers. Our copper mugs and home décor collections are some of our favorite items because they have so much style and become instant focal points. There is something about the look and feel of copper that is special and eyes are uncontrollably drawn to it. Over the past year, we purchased engraving equipment so we could diamond bit engrave imagery onto our mugs. The combination of high quality, handmade, copper mugs from Paykoc Imports and the ability to render almost any image for engraving has taken us on a wonderful ride.
This past year we have adapted well over 100 images for engraving to help clients promote their businesses, celebrate milestone events or just create a special gift. We know from years of providing fine, copper mugs that we offer a product that is up to the task of daily restaurant and bar use. Now, we have the pleasure of knowing that more and more of those mugs will forever showcase your company logo or personal artwork upon a beautiful copper background.
Each time we adapt an image for engraving, there are obstacles to overcome to determine the best presentation of your artwork. For engraving, every detail is drawn by a single, fine line. To give a full appearance to part of a design we use contoured, fill lines that produce a very dynamic and engaging version of your original image or logo. Finding a balance between the smooth, untouched copper and the engraved lines that give shape to your design is an exciting process. The end effect is an interpretation of your image that not only brings it new life with added dimensions, but also an ability to play off the light reflecting on the copper. It is always a pleasure to see people inspecting our mugs and maneuvering them around to catch every detail. This is even more fun when there is a nice cocktail within them.
Designer Engraved Mugs
Sometimes we come across an idea for a mug that we just have to make, even if no one is asking for it. We have done many personal projects, holiday mugs and regional designs that we want to keep sharing with others. Recently, we created a page on our website for these Designer Engraved Mugs. This is a great way for us to share custom mug designs that can give your barware collection some real character. This collection will continue to grow as we find more images we just have offer you a chance to own.
Engraving vs. Laser Etching
One question that has come up several times now concerns the difference between diamond bit engraving and laser etching. Often times, we have seen laser etching described as “engraving.” The term “engraving” is not very accurate when lasers are involved. Engraving is a physical process. In our case, we use a diamond bit to physically remove material that leaves the design cut into the mug we are engraving. Laser etching is a chemical process, which is essentially burning the material in order to imprint a design on a surface.
The difference in appearance of these two methods is very pronounced. Our method of diamond bit engraving is very engaging and all the line work and cuts in the metal gives imagery a very playful look that can change as light reflects off the mug. It certainly brings life to the design. Whether you keep your mugs polished and shiny or let them acquire a natural tarnish, the lines cut into the metal are permanent and are always visible. Laser etching will give you a one dimensional rendering of your image, presented in black, which could become more difficult to see over time especially if you allow your mugs to tarnish. An engraved image will give you an image that interacts with the light and colors all around you and is anything but one dimensional. You can allow your mugs to tarnish and be polished time and time again. Meanwhile, your design will forever remain engraved and consistent.
A Look to The Future
As we move further into 2016, we have already had a busy year and have many new projects and challenges ahead of us. Our goal remains the same. It is such a good feeling to take a design that means so much to our clients and create an interpretation of that design on our mugs. We take great pride in handling this task for you. Thinking of all the mugs we have customized over the past year, it gives us a warm (and sometimes a little tipsy) feeling knowing that these mugs will be raised among friends time and time again.
Cheers!
